Respiratory Physiotherapy

Mar Amorós, is the physiotherapist specialized in respiratory physiotherapy who collaborates in our center to support and improve the quality of life of the respiratory patient.

At RESPIRA we believe in the importance of individualized treatment. To make this possible, we use ventilatory techniques, for example techniques to improve the drainage of mucus, which is usually difficult to expel.

Respiratory physiotherapy can help those with:

  • Bronchitis and bronchiolitis
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Atelectasis
  • Pneumonia
  • Asthma
  • COPD
  • Pulmonary emphysema
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Preparations for thoracic and abdominal surgeries
  • Post-COVID19 pulmonary sequelae
  • Exertion intolerance

New: The Buteyko Method is a methodology based on retraining the breathing pattern to achieve functional, calm, and nasal breathing. The main goal of the method is to correct chronic hyperventilation habits that can cause or worsen various health issues.

What does it involve? It consists of an initial assessment, a proposal of progressive exercises tailored to each patient, and ongoing maintenance to ensure long-term benefits.

What are the benefits?

  • Helps control asthma symptoms.
  • Promotes nasal breathing and supports airway decongestion.
  • Improves respiratory control and reduces the sensation of fatigue and shortness of breath.
  • Optimizes sleep quality and facilitates falling asleep.
  • Supports the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, fostering a harmonious bodily response.

Who can benefit?

  • People with respiratory issues such as asthma, rhinitis, sinusitis, or sleep apnea.
  • Children or adults with oral breathing.
  • People with stress and anxiety disorders.*
  • People with fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue.

*Hyperventilation often accompanies anxiety, worsening its symptoms. Learning to breathe in a controlled manner helps calm the nervous system and break the hyperventilation-anxiety cycle.
